Ironic placement of historic plackard

This sign on 12th St. proclaims the prior home of a well-known African-American sculptor. Though I had not previously heard of her, she studied with greats such as August Rodin, whose sinuous and muscular forms are part of the canon of modern sculpture. According to the sign, Meta Fuller depicted human suffering in her sculpture, and just below her former living quarters a sex show is on display -  and some would argue human suffering lives on in the raw, loveless gyrations of the nude dancers within. Ironic that club "Icandy" exists here.
